چکیده
Abstract A 2-layer non-hydrostatic model with improved dispersive behaviour is presented. Due to the assumption of a constant pressure distribution in lower layer, without much additional computational time. comparison linear wave theory showed that this gives better result for dispersion relation and shoaling waves intermediate water. This means applicable shallow water depths (up relative kh equals 4), whereas 1-layer only (kh smaller than 1). Three laboratory experiments, including fringing reef barred beach, were used validate presented mode different hydrodynamic conditions. Based on these results, it can be concluded applied accurately simulate bulk height spectral properties. The low frequency height, setup particular second order statistics contain more scatter, but captured general trend. Furthermore, good results complex bathymetries

Comparison between a non-hydrostatic numerical model and analytic theory for the two-layer exchange flows
Recently, Armi and Riemenschneider (2008) improved the two-layer hydraulic theory and applied it to the co-located sill and contraction. The main goal in this study is to compare the new theory with a non-hydrostatic numerical model. To this end, the numerical model is employed for two different geometries. The first geometry is steep topography with co-located contraction and the second geomet...
متن کاملDispersive wave runup on non-uniform shores
Historically the finite volume methods have been developed for the numerical integration of conservation laws. In this study we present some recent results on the application of such schemes to dispersive PDEs. Namely, we solve numerically a representative of Boussinesq type equations in view of important applications to the coastal hydrodynamics. Numerical results of the runup of a moderate wa...
متن کاملDifferential Transform Method to two-dimensional non-linear wave equation
In this paper, an analytic solution is presented using differential transform method (DTM) for a class of wave equation. The emphasis is on the nonlinear two-dimensional wave equation. The procedures introduced in this paper are in recursive forms which can be used to obtain the closed form of the solutions, if they are required. The method is tested on various examples, and the results reveal ...
متن کاملDepth-integrated, non-hydrostatic model for wave breaking and run-up
This paper describes the formulation, verification, and validation of a depth-integrated, non-hydrostatic model with a semi-implicit, finite difference scheme. The formulation builds on the nonlinear shallow-water equations and utilizes a non-hydrostatic pressure term to describe weakly dispersive waves. A momentumconserved advection scheme enables modeling of breaking waves without the aid of ...
